School for Speech & Hearing Disabled Children

In 1997 the school opened its doors with the aim to provide education to the speech and hearing-impaired children of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The admission of deaf students to the special school is on the basis of medical reports and students have routine check ups by ENT specialists twice a month. The school is equipped with group hearing aids and imparts instruction through holistic communication techniques, including speech and lip reading. The school provides speech correction and audiometric facility services through language and speech therapists. This is the only co-educational special school for the hearing impaired in the state.
